I have a great opportunity to give my husband a wonderful gift. My husband's son is getting married Labor Day weekend in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Our monthly budget is extremely tight. I figure we will need about $500 to make the trip. I have made the decission to do five Mary Kay parties in the next two weeks. This will not only give me the money to take my family to Florida, it will also give me a 25 new customers!!!
I love to help women feel better about themselves. Working with a company that believes in God first, family second and career third lets me do just that. I can use my business to minister to others while making a better life for my family!!!

Yesterday was my daughter's 14Th birthday party. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love to entertain. However I want everything to be perfect for my guests and sometimes perfection is not possible. Yesterday was one of those "Murphy's law" days.
I had my timing perfect. I baked a beautiful chocolate cake. It cooled perfectly and when icing the cake I didn't have quite enough icing. No problem I made some butter cream icing. And while finishing the cake I dropped the bowl of icing shattering my cake plate and my beautiful cake crumbled into a pile of broken glass. After spouting a few words that should not be in a christian woman's vocabulary I regrouped and decided when I picked Jennifer up from school I would get a cake mix and icing.
I made it home with cake number two. I asked Charlie to grease and flour the cake pans. Here we go again. When Charlie had bought the shortening, he purchased shortening that has animal fat in it. Not much of a problem but one of our guest is a vegetarian we couldn't use it. Charlie tried olive oil and flour. Needless to say both layers stuck and broke into pieces. I had to piece this poor cake back together. Finally, the cake is finished!!! Time to move on to the hamburgers.
We had prepared the burgers earlier. All we had to do was put them on the grill. The grill is heated, burgers are on, and flames go off. We are out of gas. So all the burgers were pulled off the grill and brought into the house to bake in the oven. The food is finished. Now time for a relaxing game of "Ninja".

I was not only blessed once with a handsome, wonderful, and extremely artistic son, but God also saw fit to bless me with a daughter that is uniquely her own person.
It amazes me daily what wonderful people my children have become and are becoming.
Happy Birthday Nuggs!!! I love you!!!!!

I have found myself at a strange and unfamiliar place. For the last ten years, I have been a homemaker and a home school mom. Everything revolved around my family. And I was very happy with that. Now I find my life totally changing.
My son is an adult now. He is working and making plans to move out on his own. My daughter will be fourteen on the 19th and has started high school at Carrollton High School. And last but not least my darling husband is retired and home full time. It is time for me to evolve as my family has.
I have decided to return to school. I have applied to attend West Georgia Technical College to major in radiologic technology. I am a little nervous because it has been a long time since I have attended school. I am so excited about getting a degree. Not attending college has been one of my few regrets in life. Now that Charlie is home to help with Jennifer I think it is a good time for me to start a career.

My summer is coming to a screeching halt! Today I pack my nephew up and send him back to his parents. We have enjoyed having him so much. I hope this can become a tradition and he can do this every summer.
To add insult to injury, not only do I lose Wyatt today, Jennifer starts school tomorrow! I will not know what to do with myself!! I have applied for school myself. So maybe tomorrow I can get my transcripts sent to the school and schedule my COMPASS test. Going back to school scares me and excites me all at the same time.
After all ... tomorrow is another day.
Chef Wyatt teaching line cook Charlie how to grill "Man Burgers"!
For his first dinner party Wyatt invited Uncle Bill, Aunt Judy and her son David along with the five of us. His party was a success. The Smith boys' recipe for "Man Burgers" is out of this world!!
I don't know who was the most proud, me or him!!

My nephew Wyatt and I share a love for cooking. Wyatt has been my sous chef and my apprentice for the past month. Tonight the roles are reversed. I will be the sous chef and he will be the head chef and host his first dinner party. It will be dinner for eight. The menu is all his own.
We have had such a good time cooking together. I am sure when he opens his first resturant he will name it "ma tante préférée" or my favorite aunt.
